Brainspotting
Brainspotting
“Where you look affects how you feel.”-David Grand, Creator of Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a neuroexperiential model that helps clients access the subcortical (non-verbal) part of the brain where trauma is typically stored. David Grand, the creator of Brainspotting, firmly believes that “where you look affects how you feel.” Afterall, our eyes do give us access to the subcortical part of the brain. It also uses the visual field as a way to help release stored memories.
Brainspotting is a neuroexperiential approach in where a brain spot in the visual field is used to process.
What is a Brainspot?
“a brain spot is a point in visual space to which the client has a strong reaction.”-David Grand, Phd.

Brainspotting helps find spots in the client’s visual field to help with unprocessed trauma in the part of the brain that holds emotions (subcortical brain).
One way in which trauma can be processed is via Brainspotting. It is a brain-body-mindfulness-based relational therapy.
My approach in using Brainspotting is to bypass the talk therapy and go directly to the part of your brain that is holding the trauma that is keeping you stuck.
The conscious thinking mind can only get us so far, but Brainspotting can help take it to the root.
Brainspotting can help with:
Trauma and PTSD
Anxiety and Panic Disorders
Performance Anxiety
Sexual Abuse
Chronic Pain Conditions
Grief and Loss
Creativity, Sports, and Performance Enhancement’
